A dowry chest such as this would have been filled with clothing, linens, and valuables. In 1858, Sirid’s descendants brought the chest with them when they emigrated from Norway to Wisconsin.","creditline":"Gift of Joel and Irene Njus in memory of Siri Ivar's datter Grosberg","accession_number":"99.93a, b","artist":"Ivar Kvalen (Quallen)","life_date":"Norwegian (dates unknown)","department":"European Art","rights_type":"Public Domain","image_width":5883,"image_height":3768,"recent":0,"see_also":[],"sort_number":"99    93a    b","image":"valid","public_access":1,"curator_approved":0,"highlights":0,"Cache_Location":"032000\\400\\60\\32465","Primary_RenditionNumber":"mia_5004113.jpg","Rights_Image_Display":"Full","related:audio-stops":[{"title":"Kvalen, Norwegian Chest","_id":"32465","objectId":"32465","link":"http://audio-tours.s3.amazonaws.com/p874.mp3","number":"874","type":"audio"}],"mtime":"2026-03-13T09:00:09.514Z"}
